Getting Ready for Election Day

Pennsylvania voters face a long list of ballot choices on November 8th — from the governor’s office to Congress and the state legislature — and every candidate has the potential to make decisions that will affect health care choices, access and affordability in your community. You can advocate for health care policy issues by getting to the polls on Election Day, but you must register first!

If you need to register to vote in the upcoming election, it’s time to take action.

Pennsylvania’s voter registration deadline is Monday, October 24th. Getting registered to vote requires only a few quick steps, but you’ll need to act fast to make sure you’re ready for Election Day on November 8th.

If you’re interested in voter registration, getting an absentee ballot or voting in-person, here are the details you need to know:

  • Voter registration: To vote in the next election, you must complete your application by October 24th.
    • How to register: You can submit your application online or to your county’s voter registration site. Active duty military and hospitalized or bedridden veterans can register anytime.
    • Eligibility: To register in Pennsylvania, you must be 18 years old on Election Day, a U.S. citizen and a resident of the state at least 30 days before the election.
  • Absentee ballots:  November 1st is the last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot.
    • Submission date: County boards of elections must receive the ballots by November 8th at 8 p.m.
  • Poll hours: In Pennsylvania, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The busiest times of day to vote are in the morning and evening.
