
There’s still time to enroll in health insurance coverage for 2022 through Pennsylvania’s health insurance marketplace, Pennie.
But you’ll need to act soon. The deadline to select a 2022 plan on Pennie is coming up January 15. Coverage will begin February 1.
There are about 344,000 Pennie customers in Pennsylvania, and the overwhelming majority qualify for subsidies to reduce the cost of coverage. Nationally, federal officials are reporting record enrollment and interest in the federal insurance marketplace and state-based exchanges, such as Pennie.
This year, there are more options available for those seeking coverage. Nationally, 213 issuers are offering coverage through the federal marketplace, an increase of 32 issuers compared to the previous year. In Pennsylvania, 25 counties gained a new insurer on the marketplace for 2022.
More than 90 percent of consumers in Pennsylvania and the U.S. received federal subsidies to cover the cost of care. In Pennsylvania, individual coverage premiums increased just 0.2 percent from 2021.
