Telemedicine: This Isn’t the Future, It’s the Present

Apr 17, 2018

The concept of telemedicine use to seem like it was something out of the movies in the 1980s. No, this isn’t the future. This is the present.

On June 13, 2018, the Pennsylvania Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 780 to expand telemedicine across the commonwealth.

This is a major step in advancing the quality and availability of needed health care services that can be delivered to Pennsylvanians, especially for preventive care and management of chronic conditions. The Senate’s passage also would make certain that Pennsylvania’s health insurers cover telemedicine treatment the same as in-person services.

The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) endorses the passage of SB 780 and thanks the Healthy Me PA community, which has been instrumental in reaching out to legislators to help make this happen.
