Telemedicine is Important in the City, Too

When it comes to the pros of telemedicine, it’s easy to think of the families across the rural areas of our state who have to travel long distances to see specialists and the solutions telemedicine services provide. But people in urban areas need telemedicine for improved access to care, too. Thanks to the higher population density in cities, there are more people who need to see doctors, leaving physicians strapped for time to get to everyone in need.

For example, a study found it takes an average of 24 days for a patient to make an appointment with a physician in metropolitan areas. For growing children and adults with chronic conditions, waiting almost a month to see your doctor is far too long. That’s where telemedicine comes in.
