Taking the Polar Bear Plunge to support Special Olympics this winter?

 

Pennsylvania is home to many polar plunge events this winter. But before you get your feet wet, follow these four important safety tips!

1. Safety in Numbers: Always take the plunge with others
2. Prepare Properly: Have dry clothes, a hat, and hot drinks on hand after your plunge
3. Make it Quick: Don’t stay submerged for long, and never dive into water
4. Know the Signs: Know hypothermia signs: shivering, sudden fatigue, and loss of coordination
