Start the new year right by planning ahead to make sure your family pays these doctors a visit.
Your primary care doctor should know your health history and be able to refer you to the right specialist, if you need one. You can check visits off throughout the year to make sure your family members are up to date on all aspects of their health, from vision prescriptions to dental care. And remember, check-ups and screenings for men are just as important as they are for women and children.

Family doctor
Schedule an annual visit for the whole family to get general check-ups. Your primary care doctor should know your health history and be able to refer you to the right specialist, if you need one. You also should visit this doctor to make sure everyone in the family gets a seasonal flu shot, if they haven’t already done so.
Pediatrician
Pay a visit to the pediatrician for annual wellness check-ups for any children under 18. For infants and young children, the National Institutes of Health recommends preventive care visits and check-ups several times a year.
Gynecologist
Females are advised to schedule an annual visit to the OB/GYN to manage their reproductive health, monitor risk for conditions such as reproductive and breast cancers, or discuss family planning options.
Dermatologist
Schedule a visit with the dermatologist for skin check-ups annually, or more frequently if anyone in your family has skin care concerns or questions.
Dentist
Get in the practice of visiting the dentist every six months for cleaning, check-ups, and any other services that need to be addressed. Remember: Much of the preventive work for your teeth happens with daily self-care routines and diet.
Eye Doctor
If anyone in your family has vision problems or wears glasses, schedule an annual visit with the ophthalmologist/optometrist to monitor or update their prescriptions.
