PA Hospitals Are In A Crisis
When COVID-19 first made its way to Pennsylvania, the concern was clear: If the pandemic spread too far, too fast, our hospitals would be inundated with too many patients and not enough resources such as beds, ventilators, PPE, or even staff. Thanks to prevention measures and the dedicated hospital staff working on the front lines, Pennsylvania was able to contain this crisis for now.

But a deeper crisis has appeared as a result of COVID:
Many hospitals in Pennsylvania are undergoing enormous challenges financially and operationally. In fact, they’re projected to lose $7.6 billion by year’s end. Here’s why:
-
For months, hospitals had to suspend elective, nonemergency procedures
-
Costs to run hospitals have increased
-
Patient visits are down substantially
This crisis will have long-term effects on Pennsylvania’s hospitals, and that could mean the hospitals you depend on could limit their services or even close.
We can’t let this happen.
