National Health Center Week Brings Accessible Care to You

Aug 8, 2016

Thousands of centers provide medical care across America.

National Health Center Week (Aug. 7-13) highlights the quality care the centers provide, especially in areas where there aren’t enough doctors, hospitals, and other professionals to care for everyone. Health centers also have helped millions of people learn about their health coverage choices and provide a health care home to many newly insured under the Affordable Care Act.

State community health centers provide primary, behavioral, and dental health care to 1 in 17 Pennsylvanians at 300 sites in 52 counties—both urban and rural. Find a community health center close to you at Pennsylvania Association of Health Centers.

Who uses community health centers in the United States?

  •        nearly 300,000 veterans
  •        more than 7 million children
  •        1.1 million homeless people
  •        A high percentage (62%) of whom are a racial or ethnic minority

Across Pennsylvania, community health centers often partner with hospitals and other organizations to provide high quality, affordable care with high patient satisfaction.
